On August 10, the search for the missing crew member at Cape Whitney entered its fourth day, and Monday’s efforts failed to find the man again.

New York State Police now say that the kayaker who disappeared on Cape Whitney Lake over the weekend is from Louisiana, not Pennsylvania.

At approximately 8 am on Monday, August 9, the authorities of the State Police Underwater Recovery Team resumed their search for 57-year-old James Jones. The man's kayak capsized while paddling with another person on Saturday, August 7. The spacecraft was found, but Jones did not resurface.

Searchers from multiple agencies, including Sheriff Broome and Chenango, K-9 troops, fire department, volunteers, and drones conducted the lake and coastline on Saturday, Sunday, and late Monday. Searched, but to no avail.

The search is expected to resume on Tuesday morning.

A source from the state police said it was important to find the man to provide solutions for his family. The relevant circumstances of the accident are also under investigation.

Searchers from multiple agencies are looking for a kayaker who is reported missing in Dorchester Lake.

According to a statement issued by the Broome County Emergency Services Office early Sunday afternoon, divers from the New York State Police and the Broome County Technical Rescue Team participated in the search.

The statement stated that the kayaker was reported missing on Saturday night.

The incident occurred about half a mile upstream of Dorchester Park in Triangle Town.

Although it did not happen in the park, emergency rescuers are using the park for operations.

State police stated that the missing person was a 57-year-old man from Pennsylvania. When his kayak tipped over, he was kayaking with another person. His kayak was found, but he did not resurface.
