Grand River Farmers Market.  9 AM to 2 PM.  A wide variety of produce is available from local farmers.  Plants, flowers, crafts, home goods, bakery items, and more.  Corner of Mechanic and Glick, Downtown Jackson.

Cruise In and Concert.  The Jackson Downtown Development Authority presents the monthly Cruise-In from 5 PM to 9 PM.  Hundreds of classic and antique cars line the streets of Downtown Jackson.  Food trucks, merchant and restaurant specials, fun for all. New this Cruise In:  a Burn Out pit, on Mechanic Street between Michigan and Cortland.  JSO Summer Pops concert at Horace Blackman Park.

Summer Pops:  Heroes and Heroines.  7 PM.  Join the JSO in honoring both fictional and real heroes and heroines that give the people in our country hope! This concert will start by exploring theme songs for heroes that we all know and love from Superman to Wonder Woman. Then, we’ll take the second half of our concert to play some epic music to honor heroes from the common man to the many war heroes and veterans in our community. The concert is free but you can purchase VIP tickets for $30 which includes special seating, a drink ticket, and a preconcert party starting at 6:00 pm at Weatherwax Hall.

Feast on Lane View Farm. Get to know your farmer! Join Manchester Market and Grand River Butchers as we highlight the farm experience at Lane View Farm with amazing food, live music, and community.  Lane View Farm is one of the two local wholesalers that provide meat to the butchery at Manchester Market. They are • All Natural • Antibiotic and Hormone Free • Grain Fed • Farm Fresh Angus Beef.  Our butchers will be grilling and smoking an entire steer from Lane View Farm and then you get to try a bite of everything! NY, rib eye, top sirloin, skirt, flank, flat iron, chuck eye, brisket, beef sliders, and more! As cuts are grilled they will be sliced into thin strips then you’ll create your plate from all the steaks.  Then load your plate with sides of cole slaw, mac & cheese, cornbread, corn on the cob, and potato salad. We will also have some sweet treats from Grand River Bakery. Wash it all down with a refreshing soda, water, lemonade, or iced tea. *this is an alcohol free event.  The kids will get to feed donuts to the pigs, check out the chicken coop, see the cattle, and enjoy hayrides.  Did we mention this is all you can eat? Civil War Muster.  The Jackson Civil War Muster is celebrating 35 years on August 27th and 28th, 2022. This year, the event will be returning to the historic Cascades Park, 1401 S. Brown St. Jackson. There will be several new additions to the event. Tripp’s Auto Shop & Collision Center is the primary sponsor.  The Jackson Muster is the largest, longest running Civil War event in the Midwest, welcoming people of all ages. We encourage visitors to interact with living historians by stepping back in time into the village of Jacksonburg, and experiencing the extravagant military ball, as well as witnessing the excitement of two battles with raging cannons and marching infantry. The event will continue to stay free to the public.  Events begin at 9 AM both days.

Southside Summer Fest presents Black Business Expo.  You can learn how to register your business, market and promote, and learn more about taxes and insurance. This is a great opportunity for small black businesses to network with other businesses and consumers from around the market. 11 am – 6 pm.  Elnora Moorman Plaza, Corner of Milwaukee and High Street, Jackson.   Food, Exhibits, Entertainment, Shopping and more!

SAU Party on the Plaza.  Spring Arbor University presents Party on the Plaza – Help us kick off our 150th anniversary with food, fireworks, and a live concert!  5 PM to 9:15 PM.  Free and all are welcome!  BBQ with hot dogs and pulled pork from 5 to 7 PM.  Kids activities include face painting, crafts, and entertainment!  Concerts feature student and alumni bands.  Sanctus Real in Concert from 7 PM to 9 PM followed by fireworks.  On the Clocktower Plaza at Spring Arbor University.

People for the Parks and Trails Mini-Golf Fundraiser.  You’ve heard of a Golf Outing, but what about a MINI-GOLF OUTING? People for the Parks & Trails is hosting a Mini-Golf Outing at the Ella Sharp Park Mini-Golf Course on Saturday, Aug. 27 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. A portion of the day’s proceeds will go to People for the Parks and Trails to help power our volunteer efforts and improvements in public parks. Admission per golfer is $5. No need to sign up, just show up and golf! There will be a prize raffle and other fun. The Mini-Golf Course is located on the east side of Ella Sharp Park, off Fourth Street and Hickory Avenue.

Rust and Dust Festival.  Hanover-Horton Area Historical Society presents RUST N’ DUST Farm Days Festival. Antique tractor pulls all day on Saturday; Corn Hole Tournament on Sunday; Historical arts demonstrators; vendors, food sales, bake sale; Sawmill demonstrations; wagon rides; antique farm equipment displays!  Entertainer Dan Bickel 1-4 Saturday!  Hanover-Horton High School band 2:00 Saturday!  For Children:  Kids on the Farm activities:  laundry, egg grading, wheat grinding, corn shelling, pig herding, cow milking, pedal tractor pull on Saturday at 1:00, and lots more!  Also real petting zoo! Admission:  $3 per person; $10 per family; Kids under 6 free.

Blessing thy Neighbor Outreach.   Noon – 5 PM.  Oasis of Love, 800 S Cooper St, Jackson.  Blessing Thy Neighbor Outreach is a family fun FREE community event sponsored by Oasis Of Love Full Gospel Church. There will be games, prizes, food, live music, inspiration, resource information, a clothes closet, and much more!

Katch-A-Kid Multigenerational Mixups Fundraiser.  6:30 PM.  Michigan Theatre, Downtown Jackson. Katch-A-Kid Multigenerational Mixups Fundraiser for Educational Outings.  Motivation for Non-Violence Success Seminar with special guest speakers.
