The following are the restaurants and other food facilities that were temporarily closed by Riverside County Environmental Sanitation Bureau inspectors from September 17 to 23, 2021 due to imminent health hazards. If the reopening date is not mentioned, the department has not listed the facility as reopening in this publication.

The Kickin' Crab, 482 N. Main St. Suite 102, Corona

Chuck Wagon Bar & Grill, 1353 W. 6th St., Corona

The following are selected inspections of facilities that are not closed but have major problems.

On September 23, Chef K of 31757 Temecula Parkway Suite A in Temecula was inspected due to a foodborne illness complaint. It had a failing rating of 74/C, and there was a serious violation. The cooked squid and rice were not cooled fast enough to ensure safety, and they were stored in plastic food bags. In the other 16 violations, the ice maker was moldy, raw beef and raw chicken were placed in the same container, employees did not wash their hands after wiping their faces and sweat, the temperature of the egg rolls was unsafe, and the frozen beef was not thawed properly and some utensils were dirty. The inspector noticed "large amounts of grease and overall dirt" on all cooking line equipment. This is the restaurant's fourth C-level since 2016; the most recent one was in February 2019.

5 Stars Pho, located at 4950 La Sierra Ave. Suite 2 in Riverside, was inspected on September 22 and received a failing grade of 80/B with two serious violations. A filter containing tripe is stored at the top of the trash can, and tripe is in direct contact with the trash. In addition, three employees did not wash their hands, including one who dumped garbage. In the other 10 violations, the temperature of some egg rolls and rice was unsafe, a bowl of soup was on the floor, and the cooking equipment needed to be cleaned.

The Yum Yum Donut Shop, located at 3247 Arlington Ave., Riverside, was inspected on September 22 and received a 81/B failing score for two serious violations. Sandwiches, wraps, salads, drinks and pastries were at an unsafe temperature in a showcase that was impounded for not being refrigerated. In addition, no disinfectant is used when washing dishes. Among the other nine violations, employees did not wash their hands, the ice machine became moldy, and other equipment contained food debris. The last time the inspector came was in January, the store was temporarily closed because there was no hot water.

Friesland, located at 1299 University Ave. Suite 104E in Riverside, was inspected on September 22 and received a failing score of 81/B, including one serious violation. The inspector found several rodent droppings and noticed that the last pest control invoice for the restaurant was in March 2020. The restaurant was told to contact the pest control department immediately and began to receive monthly services. In the other 11 violations, employees did not wash their hands, some raw eggs were at room temperature, and most of the food in the refrigerator was not covered. The inspector said that the facilities were very dirty and needed to be cleaned. The restaurant was closed for a few days in March due to a rodent infestation; due to repeated problems, it is now facing an administrative hearing.

The list was published online on Friday. Any updates when the restaurant reopens will be included in the list next week.

All food facilities in the county undergo routine inspections to ensure they meet health regulations. For every serious violation of the facility, four points will be deducted—if the violation cannot be corrected immediately, it may have to be shut down—and one or two points will be deducted for minor violations. A level (90 to 100 points) passed. B (80 to 89 points) and C (79 points or less) fail, usually the owner needs to improve and re-check.
