Lynsey Crombie, the Queen of Clean, is a former cleaner who shares her tips and hacks often on This Morning. She has an army of fans racking up a huge 281,000 followers on Instagram.

She recently tackled how to get rid of flies, speaking exclusively with Express.co.uk.

Lynsey has a novel way to keep flies away, which will also leave your kitchen looking pretty and smelling fragrant.

The cleaner said: "I use window plants such as basil and mint in the kitchen and this helps keep them away."

There are a number of plants that keep away flies, mosquitoes, and other insects.

Filling your windows with these will deter flies at their most common entry point to your home.

Lynsey has a number of other tips to keep flies out of the home, too.

She said: "I ensure the household bins have durable bin bags and sprinkle bicarbonate of soda on the bottom of the bag to soak up any liquids and soak up odours.

"If flies come in I use a homemade fly spray, which is made up of mint essential oils, water, and bicarbonate of soda."

Flies will be more attracted to your home if it is not clean. In particular, don't leave food out and keep your bins as clean as possible.

It is claimed by some that bags of water hung by windows and on porches will throw off flies by confusing their vision.

Citronella candles are good at keeping flies away from particular spots in the home you may not want them, such as on your kitchen counters or on your porch.

Keep doors and windows closed to prevent flies from coming in, and install fly screens.

Certain plants are great for keeping flies away because they don't like the smell.

"Keep plants in the window to absorb the heat," she advised.
