The new cocktail lounge and cafe are now open in the Grand Central District. Dirty Laundry is located at 1742 Central Avenue and is at the helm of Stephen Schrutt, who is behind many of St. Peter's most popular meeting places, such as The Avenue, Park & Rec and No Vacancy.

First of all, I have no doubt that people would think this is a real laundromat. However, people who are curious will find that Dirty Laundry is the only laundry shop that will make you dirtier than when you came in.

The public phone in Dirty Laundry is your key to Havana, Cuba

After crossing the threshold, you will quickly notice that not everything is as it seems. This is the front desk of St. Peter's newest Latin-style cafe.

The floor is a black and white checkered vinyl floor. This pattern is familiar to everyone who has ever stepped into an old-fashioned restaurant. There is a public phone on the wall on the right hand side with six side-mounted washers on both sides. Some are spinning; some are abnormal. A pair of coin-operated clothes dryers sit in the back.

Dirty Laundry’s cafe is a great place to enjoy soda, coffee or snacks. Using coffee beans from Café Bustelo and Blazing Bean Roasters based on clear water, a complete espresso bar offers all your favorite coffee drinks, including Cuban favorites such as cortadito, cafecito and cafe con leche.

MADE Coffee's cold brew coffee and nitro cold brew coffee are also available.

Dirty Laundry’s coffee shop serves fast food, soda and coffee.

Other beverage options include Latin soda, coconut water, kombucha and hard soda.

The cafe’s food menu includes egg and cheese sandwiches with ham or Spanish sausage, Cuban toast, Cuban sandwiches, lechon sandwiches and empanadas.

If you don’t want to be full, pastries, muffins and biscuits are delivered from local bakeries (such as Baked in the Burg) every morning.

Like some of Dirty Laundry's washing machines, public telephones are also broken. At least during the day. But as soon as the sun went down, I picked up the phone and listened to the pre-recorded information. Enter the password into the keyboard, and one of the washing machines will pop up. Walked in and was taken to a trendy cocktail bar in the center of Havana, Cuba.

Get lost in Dirty Laundry’s secret cocktail lounge in Havana

The 15-seat dim bar is located under the tin ceiling, with a series of suspended spherical lamps. Plants are scattered in the seating area of red velvet chairs, brown leather sofas and wicker wing-back chairs. There is also a music stage with a mural by Anthony Freese as the background.

The menu on the side of the Dirty Laundry bar is completely different from the cafe.

When you get lost in Havana, taste one of Dirty Laundry’s eight Cuban-themed cocktails. One option is Cubana Mami made with Avion Tequila, Frangelico, Café Bustelo, Ancho Chili Reyes liqueur, walnut bitters, and vanilla bourbon.

There are also five different flavours of mojito, which can be ordered by glass or pitcher. Flavors include strawberry jalapeno, mango guava, watermelon, banana coconut and pineapple ginger. There are even frozen mojitos and frozen banana daiquiri.

The beer and wine menu on the bar side has a wider selection than the limited products on the cafe side. Eight local beers are draft beer, and eleven packaged beers are available, including some Latin beers such as Pacifico, Presidente and Imperial.

The wine menu includes three red wines, three white wines and three champagne choices. The glass or pitcher also offers red and white sangria.

The bar snack menu includes citrus ceviche with plantain slices, grilled mojo pork toss with pineapple pico de gallo, and rice and beans with pickled red onions, lime cream and avocado.

It seems that Dirty Laundry needs anything else to attract you, as well as a spacious outdoor terrace with partitions, sofa beds, etc.

Dirty Laundry is now open at 1742 Central Avenue in the Grand Central District. The cafe opens at 8 o'clock every morning. Be sure to follow them on Facebook and Instagram to learn about the latest products.
